Dr. Shaw has over 30 years of experience in psychiatry. He has trained in all forms of psychotherapy spanning more straight forward and time limited treatments like Cognitive/Behavioral Therapy to much more in depth work like Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. He also has extensive experience with advanced psychopharmacology.
If you have any questions or concerns about your current treatment of course your first step would be to talk openly and directly about the concerns you have with your treatment provider. After all, the hallmark of good treatment is good communication with your current treatment provider. Most of the time a seasoned and responsible treatment provider can address any of your questions or concerns.
However, if you feel that you need an expert second opinion - Dr. Shaw can set up a time with you via tele-psychiatry (a video appointment via the internet) and take a detailed history. He can then give you ideas where your current treatment may be stalled and can give you some new perspectives about what may be needed to get your treatment moving forward. If you feel a consult like this could be helpful please don't hesitate to contact us via our messaging center (below) to set up an appointment.
Our focus is to help individuals heal, energize, and become aware of their inner strengths. We achieve this by listening to your concerns, and customizing a treatment plan which can include the use a variety of psychotherapy methods (as Dr. Shaw was trained in advanced psychoanalytic technique from the Psychoanalytic Center in Cincinnati, Ohio) and/or the use of psychotropic medications as he was also trained by nationally recognized leaders in the treatment of Depression, Bipolar disorder, and Schizophrenia.
We promise to be there for you every step of your journey. Our goal is to help you grow from your struggles, heal from your pain, and move forward to where you want to be in your life. Compassion, the desire to know you deeply and to help you find your authentic path is Dr. Shaw's most deeply held commitment to each patient.
